5-12 Roundup: FC Softball & Tennis along with SM Golf all victorious

Mustangs down Red Ramblers in WRC action

Fountain Central made the trip to Attica on Thursday and behind a strong performance from Kacie Kirkpatrick was able to defeat the Red Ramblers 4-2.

Attica did jump on the Mustangs by scoring both of their runs in the first inning, but Kirkpatrick settled down and was able to hold the Red Ramblers scoreless the rest of the way. FC got their four runs by scoring a pair in the fourth and single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Kirkpatrick at the plate went 2-3 and drove in three runs for the Mustangs. Maddie Medley also recorded a pair of hits for the Mustangs who ended with nine in the win. Jerzi Hershberger, Chole Golia, Hannah Wood, Audree Brown, and Kendal Rahm all picked up a hit each.

FC improves 2-13 on the season and will travel to North Montgomery this evening.

Baseball

Mustangs drop two-run game to Gophers

Fountain Central traveled to take on Clinton Prairie on Thursday and fell to the Gophers by a final score of 6-4.

Clinton Prairie used a five-run third inning to take a 5-0 lead and never look back as the Mustangs couldn’t muster enough offense late. FC’s scored a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth innings and tallied six total hits in the loss.

Luke Foxworthy led the Mustangs with a pair of hits while Lukas Miller, Kyle Slinker, Dawson Blue, and Micahel Geller all picked up a single hit each.

FC falls to 5-13 on the season with the loss and travels to Faith Christian this evening.

Mounite offense halted by Tigers

Southmont was held to a single hit in a 14-0 loss in five innings to Lebanon on Thursday. Carter Hubble picked up the single hit in the loss.

The Mounties fall to 2-14 (0-11 SAC) and will welcome Attica this evening.

Golf

Chargers fall to Red Devils on the links

North Montgomery boys golf continued their string of tough opponents on the course on Thursday as they hosted West Lafayette. The visiting Red Devils would come away with a 168-178 win over the Chargers on the evening.

Hayden Turner and Haze Kashon led the Chargers with each shooting 44’s. Alex Chapman and Drew Norman both ended with 45’s

North Montgomery will now get ready to host the Sagamore Conference meet on Saturday. The Chargers are set to tee off at 10:50.

Mounties best Tigers and Stars

In preparation for Saturday’s Sagamore Conference meet, Southmont hosted Lebanon and Western Boone at Rocky Ridge on Thursday. The Mounties came away with victory over their SAC rivals as they shot a 167 in the win. Lebanon finished in second place with a 172 and WeBo was third with a 183.

Nolan Allen led the Mounties by shooting a 39 in the win. Harrison Haddock and Tanner Walls both carded 42’s. Luke Tesmer ended the night with a 44, Ty Elles a 46, and Carson McKinney rounded out the scoring for Southmont with a 48.

Southmont heads into Saturday’s conference meet as one of the favorites to compete for the top spot along with county rival Crawfordsville. Lebanon and North Montgomery are also expected to be in the mix.

Tennis

Mustangs conclude regular season with win over Bison

Fountain Central concluded its regular season schedule by doing what they have done all season... win. It was another strong showing for the Mustangs who hosted Benton Central and came away with a 4-1 win.

Lillie Fishero defeated Kinlyn Yadon 6-1, 6-4 at one singles as the senior remains undefeated for FC. Haley Webb at two singles took care of Emma Besse 6-4, 6-1, and Angela Gonzalez defeated Rachel Tolen 6-2, 6-4. The lone loss for the Mustangs came at one doubles as Sophie Cobb and Paige Creek defeated Emily Jimenez and Alydia Mellady 7-6(2), 1-6, 11-9. Rounding out the wins for FC was the duo of Marylee Muniz and Hannah Prickett who was victorious at two doubles with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Alydia Doyle and Kourtney Sarault.

The Mustangs conlcude their regular season scheudle with a record of 13-1 and will now get ready to host the WRC Tournament which begins on Saturday.
