8-16 Roundup: Meadows breaks 9-hole record, CHS boys soccer has dominate season opener

Meadows sets 9-hole record in Mountie win

The record books for Southmont girls golf already has Addison Meadows’ name littered on it. Tuesday night Meadows made some more history as the Mounties hosted Tri-West and Monrovia and came away with a 193 first place finish. Meadows broke her own nine-hole record by shooting a 33 to lead the Mounties in the win. Last season she broke the record that was held by Logan Berrisford in 2019.

Tri-West placed second with a 214 with Monrovia finishing a stroke behind them at 215.

Kelsey Thompson shot a 51 with Stella Snook carding a 53. Parker Church ended with a 56, Madisyn Posthauer ended her night shooting a 59, and Courtlyn Carpenter rounded out the scoring for the Mounties with a 60.

Meadows and the Mounties will be back in action at home Wednesday as they welcome South Putnam

Boys Soccer

Athenians blank Stars in season opener.

Crawfordsville boys soccer began their 2022 season in dominating fashion on Tuesday with a 10-0 win over Sagamore Conference foe Western Boone.

Patrick Corado led the charge with five goals in the win. Ryo Nishina scored three and Shota Koyanagi Manuel Olvera added one goal each.

“The boys played really hard and played toghether tonight,” Athenian coach Marcus Hale said. “It’s always nice to pick up not just a win but a conference win in your first game.”

CHS moves to 1-0 to begin the season and will compete at the Frankfort Invite on Saturday.

Mounties fall to Knights

A night after winning their season opener, Southmont hit the road for their first away game of the season against Lafayette Central Catholic and would fall to the Knights 4-2.

Hnter Gray would score both goals for the Mounties in the loss.

Southmont falls to 1-1 on the season and returns to action on Saturday when they host Monrovia.

Girls Soccer

Athenians fall to high-powered Eagles

Crawfordsville made the trip to Faith Christian for their season opener and would fall 10-0 against a tough Eagles squad.

The 0-1 Athenians return to the pitch on Thursday for their home opener when they host Benton Central.

Boys Tennis

Chargers fall in close match to Red Devils

North Montgomery welomed Pike to the courts for their season opener Tuesday. The Chargers and Red Devils would battle in close affair but in the end Pike would down the Chargers 3-2 for the victory.

Alex Chapman picked up a 7-5, 6-0 win at three singles for the Chargers and the doubles tandem of Haze Kashon and Owen Utterback picked up a 6-7(4), 6-1, 10(8) win in three sets.

North Montgomery will be right back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Warren Central.

Volleyball

Chargers fall to Trojans in season opener

North Montgomery opened up their 2022 season at home on Tuesday by hosting Covington. The Trojans would best the Chargers in three sets.

North Montgomery will be back at home on Thursday when they welcome Clinton Prairie.
