Mounties snag senior night win

It was senior night for Southmont boys tennis on Monday as they hosted a potential sectional opponent in Parke Heritage. South ended up picking up a narrow 3-2 win over the Wolves as their record improved to 9-5 on the season. The win was also South’s fourth in a row as they begin to build momentum for the post-season which gets underway next week.

Adam Cox defeated Lewie Woody at one singles 6-1, 6-2 while Luke Tesmer took care of Carson McCalister 6-3, 6-2 at two singles. Harrison Haddock notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at three singles over Mason Bowsher.

At one doubles the duo of Chayce Howell and Mason Hall was defeated by Max Dowd and Garret McCalister 7-5, 6-3 while Gavin Jacks and Luke Gordon defeated Caden Jones and Gavin Downey in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

South is back in action on Tuesday as they host county rival North Montgomery.

Athenians drop close contest vs Red Devils

Crawfordsville made the trip to West Lafayette on Monday to battle against West Lafayette. CHS battled the Red Devils all night but fell in a close 3-2 affair.

The two victories for CHS came at two singles and three singles as Wyatt Motz defeated Yoonsung Leelo 6-1, 6-2 and three singles with Rowan Gambrel downing Eugene Zhanglo 6-1, 6-1.

James Murphy fell to Arun Ramaniz 6-0, 6-0 at one singles. At one doubles the duo of Jude Coursey and Jude Hutchison fell to Jack Ma and Jasper Xiang 6-1, 6-1 and Thomas Bowling and Nolan Watt were defeated by Gavin Ruan and Sebastian Hollich 6-3, 6-0.

CHS returns home on Tuesday when they’ll host Attica.

Chargers drop SAC contest to Stars

North Montgomery made the short drive to battle against Sagamore Conference foe Western Boone on Monday and fell to the Stars 4-1.

The Chargers will have be right back in action on Tuesday when they make a much shorter drive across Montgomery County to take on county rival Southmont.

Volleyball

North Montgomery volleyball made the trip to take on Cloverdale on Monday and it ended up a successful trip as the Chargers notched their third win of the season taking down the Clovers in a 3-0 sweep.

The Chargers will be back at home on Tuesday when they host Clinton Central.

Girls Soccer

Mounties blanked by sectional foe

At the place where Southmont will be playing their sectional, the Mounties made the trip to take on Cascade.

The Mounties just had no answer on either side of the ball against the Cadets as they fell by a 3-0 final score.

Southmont will host county rival Crawfordsville on Tuesday and with a win against the Athenians, the Mounties can claim the county title. That county game can be heard on Thunder 103.9 WIMC with Jared McMurry and Kevin Jett as the game is scheduled for a 5:30 start.

Chargers fall to high-powered Bruins

Tri-West is a threat to any team they play and on Monday North Montgomery made the trip to battle the Bruins. The young Chargers had no answers in the game and fell by a final score of 9-0.

North Montgomery return home on Thursday when they will play host to county rival Crawfordsville. That county game can be heard on Thunder 103.9 WIMC with Jared McMurry and Kevin Jett as the game is scheduled for a 5:30 start.

Mounties bested by Cadets

The difficult season for Southmont boys soccer continued on Monday as they traveled to Cascade and fell to the Cadets by a final score of 9-0.

The Mounties will have the rest of the week off before returning to action on Saturday when they host South Vermillion.

Chargers fall to Bruins

North Montgomery boys soccer hosted Tri-West on Monday and fell to the Bruins 10-0.

The Chargers will make the quick trip to Crawfordsville on Wednesday for a county and conference battle with the Athenians.

That county game can be heard on Thunder 103.9 WIMC with Jared McMurry and Kevin Jett as the game is scheduled for a 5:30 start
