I love the hymn “Jesus is the Sweetest Name I Know.” The Bible tells us, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11). The names of Jesus fill the Bible in teaching us who He is and what He is capable of doing.
Let me share with you a few. He is:
• The Alpha and the Omega
• The Anointed One
• Immanuel — God with us
• The Only Begotten Son
• The Everlasting Lord
• The Bright and Morning Star
• The Bread of Life
• The Way, The Truth and The Life
• The World of God
• The Light of the World
• The Prince of Peace
• The Savior of the World
• The Great I Am
• The Good Shepherd
• The Holy One of Israel
• The Faithful and True Witness
• The Judge of All the Earth
• The Lamb of God
• The King of Kings and Lord of Lords
• The Lion of Judah
• The Man of Sorrows
• The Redeemer
• The Rock
• The Resurrection
• The Messiah
What a wonderful Savior we have. Read your Bible and discover for yourself the marvelous names to describe Him. What a joy that we can know Him as our Savior and have an eternal relationship. Jesus still is the “Sweetest Name I Know.”
