Alan Fulford died on Nov. 28, 2022, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 13, 1949, at Crawfordsville, to Clinton and Dorothy Fulford, Alan grew up on a farm and learned to love work.

He worked for a few years in Indiana as a surveyor, store owner, airport manager and pilot, always with Super8 camera in hand. After studying at Purdue and Indiana State, he moved to Albuquerque in 1981, initially working as a Volvo salesman and projectionist. He finished his BA at the University of New Mexico, and soon thereafter started his beloved film rental business, Field and Frame in Nob Hill. Field and Frame was more than just a business for Alan. Art shows, late night music sessions, and many impromptu events made it a hub for local artists and neighborhood folks.

While renting cameras and video equipment, he continued a wide variety of production work locally and around the state. He approached each project with passion and dedication to his craft, which included UNM Theatre and Dance, political and music videos.

Alan helped countless community members, students, and people nation and worldwide get what they needed for film projects. His knowledge of cameras, lighting and sound made him a valued resource.

Alan is survived by his high school sweetheart and long-time partner, Terri Dawson, as well as siblings, Lana (Bill) Welliever of Crawfordsville, Phyllis Wilson of Indianapolis, Donna (Bill) Milam of Overland Park, Kansas, and David (Gay) of Monticello, Illinois, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Brett.

A memorial will be held in the spring in Albuquerque.
