Mark Allen, left, who joined Scouts in 1960, spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club at their noon meeting. The title of his talk was “Scouting America.” Boy Scouts of America was started Feb. 8, 1910. Scouts range from Cub Scouts to Eagle Scouts. They work on developing leadership, character and patriotism. These are activity based with many opportunities to earn badges and new skills. Camping is a major skill taught. Both male and female people may join. On Feb. 8, 2025 Scouting America will become the official name for the organization. Allen is pictured with Dr. Michael Scheidler.
