Hello, Dolly! bursts onto MDT stage

Posted

HILLSBORO -— Up next in Myers Dinner Theatre’s 25th anniversary season will be the blockbuster classic, Hello, Dolly!, opening at noon Friday and running through June 27 at 5 p.m. Winner of four Tony Awards, including best musical revival, Hello Dolly! is a universally acclaimed smash.

In 1890s New York City, the bold and enchanting widow Dolly Levi is a socialite-turned-matchmaker. Her latest clients seeking assistance are the cantankerous “half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder and a young artist named Ambrose, who is in love with Horace’s niece, Ermengarde. Dolly’s scheming soon involves Horace’s employees as well as a New York hatmaker, as she tries to cover up her own secret romantic designs. Hello, Dolly! has become one of the most enduring musical theater pieces in history, with four Broadway revivals, an Academy Award winning film adaptation and international success.

This classic of the stage and screen will be directed and choreographed by Sarah Philabaum of Maryland, who recently directed our incredible production of The Marvelous Wonderettes. Music direction will be provided by John D. Phillips of Indianapolis, who music directed The Little Mermaid, Little Women and The Ark in 2020. The production features a wealth of both fresh and familiar faces, including returning alumni Victoria Abston, DRae Beller, Lisa Cosby, Reagan Minnette and Preston Dildine of Crawfordsville, Sarah Leigh Beason of Michigan, Edmund Castle of Union Mills, Ty Hanes of Ohio, Sarah Hayes of Iowa, Hannah Rose Rivette of New York, Emmie Wright of Danville, Bill Rubenstein of Waynetown as Horace Vandergelder and Elsa Scott Besler of Missouri as Dolly Levi. Joining them in Yonkers will be MDT newcomers Karter Dolan of North Dakota, Grant Myers of Virginia and Kole Mitchell McKinley of North Carolina as Cornelius, all of whom are making their MDT debut.
