The Indiana School Boards Association is recently announced the recipients of ISBA’s Exemplary Governance Awards program for 2021.

The EGA program is designed to honor school boards and school board members who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to continuous improvement and professional learning.

Area award winners include: The entire Crawfordsville school board; Karin Odle, North Montgomery; Julie Hess, Southmont; and Crystal Brewer, Scott Minick and Kim Sowers, Southeast Fountain.

Awards are conferred across four levels of distinction — commendable, advanced, distinguished, and exemplary—based on participation in ISBA or ISBA-recognized trainings, seminars and conferences.

ISBA will present the EGA awards at the spring regional meetings being held throughout the state from April 18 to May 4.

“ISBA congratulates all of our EGA recipients for this most impressive accomplishment,” said ISBA Executive Director Terry Spradlin. “We commend the honorees for their uncommon dedication to public service and visible engagement with ISBA events and resources.”

For this program year, 179 school board members are EGA award winners. This includes 82 commendable, 48 advanced, 24 distinguished and 25 exemplary school board members.

In addition to the individual awards, school boards qualify based on the collective EGA status of their individual members and meeting certain additional criteria, including the completion of a self-assessment.
