All six of Montgomery County’s girls and boys soccer teams found out their path to a sectional championship on Sunday evening as the IHSAA held it’s annual state pairings show. Let’s take a look at the draw went for each of our county teams.
Girls Class 1A Sectional 41 @ Cascade
Southmont is the lone county team in this sectional which is hosted by Cascade. The six team sectional features the Mounties, North Putnam, Bethesda Christian, Greencastle, South Vermillion, and the host Cadets.
In the top half of the bracket, North Putnam and Cascade get the sectional underway in game 1. The Mounties drew South Vermillion. North Putnam and Cascade get things going at 5 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 4 with the Mounties and Wildcats taking the pitch shortly after.
The bottom half of the bracket sees Greencastle and Bethesda Christian both getting a bye into the semi-final.
The semi-finals will be played that Thursday, Oct. 6 with the championship game scheduled for Saturday Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
Southmont has defeated both North Putnam and Bethesda and tied with Greencastle earlier this season. Their only loss in this sectional came against Cascade.
Girls Class 2A Sectional 25 @ Danville
North Montgomery and Crawfordsville make the trip to Danville to compete in the 2A Sectional 25 hosted by the Warriors. It’s an all-Sagamore Conference sectional this year as along with the Chargers and Athenians, Frankfort, Western Boone, Danville and Tri-West round out the six team field.
The Athenians and Chargers both play on the opening night of the sectional which is Oct. 4. North Montgomery will get a re-match with Frankfort in game one beginning at 5:30 while the Athenians draw the always tough Bruins of Tri-West in game two which is scheduled to begin at 7:30. The Chargers fell to the Hot Dogs back on Sep. 15 in a 4-1 defeat. CHS just took on the Bruins last night and fell by a 9-0 final score.
Both Danville and Western Boone draw the byes and will square off with one other in the semi-finals.
Boys Class 2A Sectional 25 @ Crawfordsville
All three Montgomery County teams help make up the seven team Class 2A Sectional 25 which is hosted by the Athenians. Along with Southmont, Crawfordsville, and North Montgomery, Danville, Cascade, Monrovia, and Western Boone make up the remaining teams that are all vying for sectional title.
All three county teams are in the bottom half of the bracket. North Montgomery will get a rematch against Danville in game two which begins at 5 p.m. on Oct. 4. Back on Sep. 10, The Chargers were defeated in a very close 1-0 loss by the Warriors. Following North Montgomery and Danville, it will be a county sectional matchup as the Athenians and Mounties drew each other. Their game will begin roughly at 7 p.m. Way back on Aug. 25, CHS routed the Mounties 10-0.
The top half of the bracket features Western Boone receiving the lone bye. They will take on the winner of Cascade and Monrovia who open the sectional on Oct. 3.
The sectional semi-finals are scheduled for Oct. 5 with the championship match being on Oct 8 at 6 p.m.
