The Crawfordsville girls golf team hosted Covington and University in a triangular meet Thursday afternoon at the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course.

University took top honors with a low score of 180, while the Athenians shot a 223, and Covington a 230.

Senior Bailey Mittal rebounded from her 48 on Wednesday night at the Ravines Golf Course, with a 44 on her home turf to lead Crawfordsville.

Evie Redding shot a 55, while Gwyn Redding fired a 57. Carli Payne carded a 67 and Sadie Walker a 68.

Crawfordsville coach Tony Thomas is hoping to see a little more consistency out of his players as the Athenians will practice tomororw, before hitting another full stretch of matches next week.

“Sometimes when you don’t start well, golf is such a mental game,” he said. “and when you don’t start well, you don’t have the confidence you need. I have a lot of confidence that we will get better, we just didn’t show it tonight.”

Covington was led by Audrey Galloway’s 47, while Kenzie Richardson added a 59. Chloe Martin and Briley Peyton each had 62, while Aimee Pickel fired a 62, and Cora Reynolds a 65.

The Athenians are back on the course at home against Parke Heritage on Monday.
