The Crawfordsville volleyball team stayed unbeaten with a 3-0 (25-3, 25-9, 25-12) win over Riverton Parke on Tuesday night.

The Athenians (7-0) jumped to a 12-0 lead in the first set and never looked back.

“Tonight, yeah somebody you’ve already seen and already beating, but I feel like we did held our composure and did our job on our side of the court,” Crawfordsville coach Kelly Johnson said. “You pull them in and say ‘keep it together and keep working on what you’re suppose to do and don’t get pull into somebody else’s game.’”

The win comes after the Athenians beat the Panthers (2-3) on Saturday en route to winning the North Putnam Invite with a perfect 4-0 record on the day.

“We saw great things all day Saturday,” Johnson said. “Just in our composure. I didn’t call a timeout all day long, and that rarely happens. The girls were doing the job and we were able to convey a few things when the other teams were calling timeout.”

In the weekend tournament, a pair of Athenians reached milestones with senior Laine Schlicher reaching 1,000 assists and junior Macy Bruton reaching 1,000 kills.

“I’m proud of being able to honor Macy and Laine tonight and continue to have a good crowd,” Johnson said. “That’s pretty phenomenal, because Macy is only a junior and Laine has only been with us for three years and they’re just great young ladies and worked hard to accompish those goals along with their teammates.”

The strong start to their seasons continued in the win on Tuesday. Bruton had 16 kills, five aces, and four digs, while Schlicher had 29 assists and four digs. On the season, Burton leads the team with 105 kills, while Schlicher has 178 assists.

In the win on Tuesday, Shea Williamson added nine digs, five kills and four aces, while Hallie Gayler had seven kills and three blocks.

Olivia Reed had six digs and an ace, while Alyx Bannon chipped in two blocks, two kills and an ace, while Halle Elliott had three digs and three aces and Liddy McCarty had two kills.
