Posted

The Crawfordsville wrestling team flipped the script on Saturday to finish strong at the Lafayette Jeff Duals. After a 1-4 effort on Friday, the Athenians responded with a 4-1 day on Saturday, including four-straight wins to end the day.

“Both days the competition was tough, I just thought the kids were flat on Friday,” Crawfordsville coach Chris Ervin said. “Saturday I challenged them a little bit, and I was really proud of them. They wrestled hard all day. The kids stepped up and got on a roll.”

Following a 45-28 loss to New Prairie, the Athenians won four-straight. They beat Rossville 64-18, Lafayette Jeff 36-36 (Criteria win), Clinton Central 60-15, and Lafayette Central Catholic 45-20.

Ethan Conkright led the Athenians with an 8-2 record at 120 pounds, while Isaac Rogers went 8-2 at 132. Kalob Brown was 6-2 at 285, and Moises Mora was 6-3 at 195, while Alex Brown (126) and Ethan Patton (182) were all 6-4. Richard Pan (138), Clayton Owens (145), and Collin Rusk (160) all went 5-5 for the tournament.

Crawfordsville is now 14-10 on the season.
