Athens Arts Gallery will host Untitled 2.0 [a juried exhibition] in late September.
This biennial event aims to bring attention to artists nationwide through a juried art exhibition. An opening gala reception is planned 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at 113 N. Washington St. Tickets will go on sale in late August. Cost is $50 and may be purchased online at www.athensartsgallery.com, by mail or at Athens Arts Gallery.
The funds raised by this event will allow the gallery to host community events, art classes and continue to offer the community opportunities to engage in art.
The gallery has already received art submissions from states such as Oregon, New Jersey, and Ohio, as well as some submissions from here in Indiana.
The previous Untitled exhibition, held in 2019, was the Athens Arts Gallery’s most ambitious event thus far. More than 150 artists from all across the country sent in applications, and more than 600 pieces of art were submitted.
Guests of the Untitled 2.0 should expect to see art from various categories: oil, water, mixed media and 3D art, including clay and steel. Guests also will enjoy music during the event, as well as catering from Juniper Spoon. There will be opportunities to meet and mingle with the juried artists, and talk to the winners. Numerous prizes will be awarded.
Organizers say sponsoring a prize is a great way to support this event, and sponsors are able to participate in the selection of a prize winner. Contact Diana McCormick, Athens Arts Gallery executive director, for more information.
“The gallery’s mission is to offer vibrant opportunities to engage the community in art, and this national juried exhibition will help us fulfill our mission,” McCormick said. The gallery serves as a place for local artists to showcase and sell their original works of art. Athens Arts aims to enhance the culture of Montgomery County, and as a nonprofit organization, relies on benefactors for the financial stability needed in order to continue its mission. The opportunity to showcase a national exhibition is thrilling for not only the community to view, but also for the member artists and board of directors to host, McCormick added.
