Athens Chapter 97, Order of Eastern Star

Posted

Last fall, Athens Chapter 97, Order of Eastern Star, and Dollar General were able to supply Crawfordsville, South Montgomery and North Montgomery students with school supplies.

During our meetings we collected all kinds of school supplies while Dollar General on West Market Street managed by Jacki Hamilton set up a box for donations. This was done during the months of June, July and August. We were able to donate to Hose, Walnut and Sommer elementary schools.

Our winter project was to collect and donate hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, coats, etc. (anything to keep our kids warm). Once again the Dollar General Store stepped up and set up a box for our project, Keep Our Kids Warm! We were able to supply another set of elementary schools in Crawfordsville, South and North; Willson, Pleasant Hill and New Market schools.

Each project we try to collect enough to assist one school in each of the three districts.

After seeing all the donations last year, it just warmed our hearts that we have such caring and giving people in our community willing to donate. Many, many thanks to each of you who took the time, effort and money to make our projects a success.

I am pleased to say once again, our chapter members and Dollar General on West Market Street, will be accepting donations for school supplies. Starting in October we will be collecting for our Keep Our Kids Warm project. Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens and coats of many colors are greatly appreciated.

Let our kids and the schools know that we care.
