Maxine Cox of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, in her home, with her family by her side.
She was born March 9, 1926, to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bush in Sparta, Illinois. On April 28, 1961, she married Edward B. Cox (now deceased) the love of her life. They had 59 years together until he passed away on May 10, 2020.
Maxine leaves a daughter, Sharon (Tim) Bushong, a son, Clifton (Debbie) Drane, ex son-in-law Martin Fleenor, and dear friends Bonnie Hopkins and Nancy Tate. She also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, three nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, a grandson and two brothers.
She loved bowling, crocheting, flowers and puzzles. She loved her grandchildren dearly and loved spending time with them. Maxine worked at J. C. Penney for 12 years.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, Feb. 8 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave. Services will begin at 1 p.m., led by Pastor Gary Edwards. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.
