Career Milestone

Bacon surpasses 100 career goals in historic career

Teegan Bacon just further cemented herself as one of the most prolific goal scorers to ever come through Montgomery County on Wednesday as Bacon and the North Montgomery Chargers hit the road for their regular season finale with Lebanon. North Montgomery ultimately fell 6-5 but not before a valiant effort from the Chargers in the final 20 minutes as they scored 4 goals in the final 15 minutes, but saw their rally fall just short.

Bacon had four of the five Charger goals as she officially went over the century mark for her career. Her four has her currently at 101 in what’s been nothing short of a historic career. The four goals by Bacon also match her single season record from a year ago as she sits at 33 on the season.

“I definitely couldn’t have done it without the players I’ve gotten to be on the field with the last four years and the coaches who have supported me,” Bacon said of the achievement. “It felt like everything I’ve ever worked for was all celebrated in one moment. It was so surreal.”

Charger coach Julie Hodges as well as every Charger fan has been for this moment anxiously over the last few games and now that it’s done, Hodges took a moment to reflect.

“For Teegan to represent North Montgomery the way she has and now we can say we have a 100 goal scorer along with the other two county schools. To stand alone now as one of the three leading goal scorers in the county is just an amazing accomplishment.”

Macy Zachary (127 for Southmont) and Hannah Whicker (107 for Crawfordsville) are the two to reach the illustrious mark.

Bacon will look to add to that total as she and the Chargers will open up Class 2A Sectional play at Danville next week when they take on Danville.
