Baseball returns to Montgomery County as Indiana Thunder 14U battles Harrison

Posted

The sights and sounds of a ballpark returned to Montgomery County on Sunday afternoon.

Indiana Thunders’ 14U team hosted Harrison in a doubleheader at Baldwin Field.

Fans scattered throughout the bleachers and up and down the foul lines as many people took in a live sporting event for the first time in months.

Governor Eric Holcomb laid out a plan in early May to help ‘save’ some of summer for Hoosiers, and filling parks and local baseball diamonds is one of the first noticeable steps.

The number of tenants and users of Baldwin Field has continued to dwindle over the last few years, and so has its playing conditions.

Yet that didn’t stop a group of boys from the area in enjoying their favorite summer activity.

The sweet sound of the ball meeting the bat, the sight of brick dust flying up from a head first slide into home plate, and the savoring smell of the inside of a glove.

Baseball is back.
