Billy Brook Thomas, 85, of Merritt Island, Florida, and born Nov. 17, 1935, at Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, at his home.

Recently, Bill’s wife Lois discovered an obituary he had penned in his own words. The family would like to share this with you:

“I, Billy B. Thomas, a gentleman and a scholar, born November 17, 1935 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, has left you for a better place to be with our Lord.

I was a great barber for twelve years and left the profession to work for AT&T.  I was a fine craftsmen for AT&T before I moved up to a top of the line position. I retired from Southern Bell Telephone in 1998.

As a retiree, I loved fishing, travel and was an excellent craftsman in hard wood carpentry. I also enjoyed skeet shooting with two sons and grandsons.”

Billy is survived by his wife Lois of 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Bernice Thomas; and sister Judith Vaught.

He is survived by his sister, Patsy Warren of Crawfordsville; and his children, Jeffrey Thomas and wife Kathy of Fishers, Stephen Thomas and his wife Cathy of Indianapolis, Brook Dresser and her husband Donald of Nokomis, Florida, and Deborah Page and her husband Michael of Crawfordsville, Butch Springer and his partner Kathy of Wingate, Vicky Redmon and her husband Jim of Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, and Susan Hutchison and her husband Mark of Crawfordsville.

He was an active member of Christ Central of Cocoa Church, where he attended for 15 years. He will be greatly missed for his wonderful cooking, great stories and quick wit.
