Billy Joe Wray, 76, of Crawfordsville passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at The Lane House, Crawfordsville. 

He was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Montgomery County, to the late Russell L. and Goldie M. (Thomas) Wray.

Billy attended Alamo and Crawfordsville schools and married Sandy Baumgardt on July 18, 1964.They later divorced, and he married Reitha Marie Shoe on Jan. 5, 1990. She survives.

Throughout the years he worked at the Indiana State Highway Department, Montgomery County Highway Department, Crawfordsville Street Department and retired from IMI Erving Concrete. He loved to fish and enjoyed attending church and spending time with his family and friends. He didn’t know a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He attended the First Assembly of God Church and Lifespring Church.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Reitha Wray; daughter Debbie (Greg) Holman of Waynetown; brother Tom (Delores) Wray of Crawfordsville; and four grandchildren, Derek (Shelly) Holman of Sheridan, Kellie Cloncs of Crawfordsville, Mike (Megan) Cloncs of Waynetown, and Courtney (Josh) Wheeler of Williamsport; 10 great-grandchildren, Dawson, Jordan, Katlyn, Calan, Stormy, Skyley, Gauge, Easton, Kaylyn, and Keegan; one great great grandson, Luke; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sandy Wray; two brothers, Raymond Wray and Don Wray; and three sisters, Viriginia Martin, Marge McNulty and Mary Swank.

Cremation was chosen with a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Lifespring Church, 1700 W. U.S. 36, Bainbridge.
