Blake James Allen, 39, of rural Veedersburg passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 18, 2025, in his home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1986, at Danville, Illinois, to Jamie West Allen and the late Bryan Lee Allen who passed away Dec. 21, 2008.
Blake was a 2004 graduate of Fountain Central High School where he was in the welding tech program. A few days following graduation, Blake was employed by Hendrickson Trailer Suspension Systems in Lebanon as a welder/fabricator where he remained employed until his death.
Blake loved the outdoors … hunting, fishing, bow shooting, riding UTVs, RC vehicles, cooking on the grill and enjoyed helping out on the family farm. The guys at the fertilizer plant and on the farm affectionately nicknamed him ‘Bo Diddley.’ He was laid back, very content with his life and would do anything to help others. He loved his nieces, nephews, dog and was an animal lover.
Surviving, along with his mother Jamie, are three brothers, Christen (Kristin) Allen of Veedersburg, Nathan Allen of Mellott and Derrik (Allison) Allen of Veedersburg; two grandmothers, Myrna Cunningham Allen Boggs and Doris Keller West McClain, both of Veedersburg; nieces and nephews, JD Allen, Grady Allen, Emmy Allen and Annabelle Allen. He also is survived by several aunts, uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father Bryan; grandfathers, Jim Allen and Dick West; and great-grandparents, King and Helen Cunningham.
Visitation hours will be 1-4 p.m. Friday, May 23, with funeral services to follow at 4 p.m. at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Pastor Greg McDonald will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington.
