The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety approved Wednesday the closure of Pike Street and a children’s 5K route for June 2 and July 2, respectively.
The first request came from Jennifer Coyle to close the 100 block of West Pike Street at Pike Place the morning of June 2 for a Character Counts! event. Separately, the board also approved the weekly closure of the same stretch of Pike Street every Saturday morning from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May to October for the Crawfordsville Farmers Market, which runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The second request came from Julia Perry to approve a walking route from downtown to Barr Street on the city’s west side July 2 for the Montgomery County Boys & Girls Club 5K. For more information, visit www.bcga.org.
In other business, the board:
• Approved a payment in the amount of $4,620 to Butler, Fairman & Seufert for Wastewater Department services.
• Approved multiple work order requests from City Code Enforcement Officer Barry Lewis concerning unmowed lawns. They include: 1024 E. Chestnut St., 710 Elmore St., 810 E. Market St., 313 N. Grant Ave., 509 W. North Drive and 713 S. Washington St.
