The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety approved various closures Wednesday to accommodate upcoming fall activities.

Diana Bell was given permission to close Ridge Way in the Northridge subdivision from 4-8 p.m. Sept. 11 to allow for the neighborhood’s annual block party and cookout.

The board also approved a request by Bethany Rauch of Whitesville Christian Church to close Pike Street at Pike Place from 3-10 p.m. Oct. 29 for a Trunk or Treat event and band performance. Rauch said the event was conducted for the first time last year and it was successful.

Sue Lucas from Crawfordsville Main Street was given approval to close Pike Street at Pike Place from 11 a.m. to midnight on Oct. 1 for Oktoberfest. The closure also includes two parking spaces. The event takes place 3-10 p.m. that day.

Lucas also thanked Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power crews for painting the bases of the downtown light poles and the city street department crews for watering the flowers and trees.

The board also gave City Attorney Kent Minnette permission to formally file a nuisance complaint regarding 913 Tuttle Ave. Minnette said the city’s code enforcement officer has exhausted all measure to get the property owner, Pro Choice Property Solutions LLC, in compliance.
