The Board of Public Works and Safety approved several items Wednesday, including multiple work order requests from Code Enforcement Officer Barry Lewis.

As summer nears, the need for maintaining lawns is picking up rapidly. Lewis requested four work orders for residential lawns to be mowed by the city. The properties included 115 Simpson St., owned by Terry Canton; 500 Tinsley Ave., owned by Kade Cooper and Jordan Brown; 209 Louise Ave., owned by Jakob Brown; and 408 Hughes St., owned by Rodney Robbins.

In other business, the board approved a request made by the wastewater department to surplus an eight-foot truck bed from a 2018 Ram Truck. The bed is damaged and needs replaced.

The board also approved an agreement between the city, Montgomery County and DES Engineering. This is an annual agreement for environmental sampling at the former landfill site. The cost included in the agreement is $24,321 along with an additional $1,500 to repair a well casing.

The final request approved on the agenda was made by Brother’s Pizza, requesting three parking spaces on Green Street in front of the business to be blocked off Dec. 13 for its annual holiday event.
