Boone County Basketball HOF seeks nominees, members

Posted

The Boone County Basketball Hall of Fame would like to announce that its 2020 class induction ceremony, originally scheduled for March 21 at Ulen Country Club, will not be re-scheduled until sometime in 2021 when the pandemic situation will be safe for all attendees.

Meanwhile, nominations for the 2021 inductee class are being accepted through Dec. 31.

To nominate a former Boone County player, coach or anyone who has contributed to Boone County basketball, visit the website www.BooneCountyHoops.com, download the nomination form, complete it and mail it per the instructions on the form. Reminder, it is mandatory that all nominees’ names remain confidential.

The group’s fall membership drive to help the annual scholarship fund is now underway. If you pay the $20 membership fee in October, November or December of 2020, that will cover your membership for all of 2021 as well.

Boone County Basketball Hall of Fame’s Mission is to recognize, honor, promote and preserve the history of Boone County basketball and to provide annual scholarships to Boone County graduating basketball athletes. Due to our growing membership and donations, the organization was able to award four scholarships this year (Jillian Algate, Audianna Bascom, Cauy Nance and Benjamin Weidner) from a competitive field of 10 applications. This is up from the two scholarships awarded in 2019 (Nathan Childress and Amelia Mills.) In addition to being a BCBHOF member, an additional donation to the scholarship fund may be made in any amount. Contact Treasurer Dick Threlkeld at 765-894-0300 or threlkeld@frontiernet.net.

For more information, contact Vice President Larry Randel at 317-873-4100 or 317-518-8150. Should you have difficulty locating and downloading any of the forms and would like assistance, contact Secretary Martha Maiden Randel by email at SiSRandel@gmail.com.
