Boots to chair summer study committee

Posted

STATEHOUSE — State Sen. Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville) will serve as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight during the summer and fall to help prepare lawmakers for the 2022 legislative session.

He will also serve on the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor.

“We’re looking into a number of pension-related matters this year as well as unemployment programs for gig workers and independent contractors,” Boots said. “Our discussions with local experts are a critical part of the legislative process and I look forward to hearing testimony and participating in these conversations.”

Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members — eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
