BOW approves parking, street closure requests

The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety approved the following requests at its weekly meeting on Wednesday:

• Reserving five parking spaces along North Green Street for Amtrak passengers for three weeks when construction begins on the train station’s parking lot, as part of a project to reconstruct the station. Amtrak will notify the city when crews start work.

• Closing Elmore Street in front of Acuity Brands Lighting from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 2 for the company’s 50th anniversary celebration, which is open to the public. Traffic will be detoured to Wabash Avenue onto Mill Street.

• Adding an alley intersection light behind the Montgomery County Community Foundation building.

• Closing Pike Street from 2 to 11 p.m. Oct. 2 and reserving two parking spaces on the west side of Washington Street just north of Pike Street for Oktoberfest.
