BOW opens solid waste bids

The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids on Wednesday for the latest contract for solid waste disposal.

The board received bids from Waste Management, T&S Trash Service and Republic Services with costs ranging from $27.75 to $55 per ton for disposal at the transfer station and landfill. The bids were taken under review.

The current agreement, which was approved in 2019, is with Waste Management at $56.14 per ton.

In other business, the board:

• Set official Halloween trick-or-treat hours for 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Approved an agreement with business solutions company Sedgwick in the amount of $4,675 for routine reappraisal of the City of Crawfordsville’s main properties. The eight properties are reappraised every three years.

• Approved a request from Music on Grant to close the gates at Pike Place from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 26 for a recital. The rain date is Oct. 3.

• Approved a request to place a street light at the alley intersection along 515 Valley Drive.

• Approved code enforcement requests for the street department to mow properties at 1100 W. Market St. owned by Mark Sipe and 209 Dunn Ave. owned by Gemain Salinas.
