The Crawfordsville boys’ basketball team went on the road and defeated Victory College Prep 58-53 on Saturday afternoon.

Karsten Williamson led the Athenians with 20 points, while leading scorer Jesse Hall left the game early in the first quarter due to an ankle injury, and Ian Hensley was out due to an illness.

“Karsten Williamson had one heck of a game,” Crawfordsville coach David Pierce said. “We had some guys that really stepped up. Ty Lynas came in and hit some big shots for us in the first half when we needed it.”

“We had three sophomores step up. Ziair Morgan, Alex Kellerman, and Mekhi Wallace all stepped up and played really well,” Pierce added.

Lynas added 12, while Morgan had nine and Kellerman eight. Wallace had seven points and 12 rebounds.

The win moves the Athenians to 7-4 on the season, and will host McCutcheon on Tuesday.

Southmont lost a double-overtime game 70-65 at Riverton Parke.

Avery Saunders had a career-high 21 points, while Austin Bowman added 15.

The Mounties are now 2-9 and travel to Covington on Friday.
