Boys basketball regular season ends Friday

The high school boys’ basketball regular season will conclude on Friday evening, with all three Montgomery County teams looking to end losing skids and head into their respective sectionals on a high note.

Crawfordsville at Covington

Crawfordsville (12-9) rides a two-game losing streak into Covington. The Trojans are 16-6 on the season and ranked No. 8 in Class A.

Jesse Hall leads the Athenians with 15.6 points per game, while Karsten Williamson chips in 10.8 a night. Logan Pinkerton leads the Trojans with 16 points per game, while Daniel Keller adds 13.1 a night, and Caleb Ellmore 12.2.

Greencastle at North Montgomery

North Montgomery (11-10) will host Greencastle (15-6) in a likely sectional semifinal matchup to follow next Friday. The Chargers received a bye at the Class 3A Greencastle Sectional, and will play the winner of the Tiger Cubs and Frankfort.

North Montgomery had beaten Greencastle five-straight times from 2013-17, but have dropped the last three meetings, including a 57-30 sectional loss last March.

Jaron Bradford leads the Chargers with 10.9 points per game, while Alex Wallace chips in 9.8. Brody Whitaker averages 23.3 points per game for the Tiger Cubs.

Southmont at Scecina

Southmont (6-14) will travel to Indianapolis Scecina (7-14) for the first meeting ever between the two teams on Friday. The Mounties lost to Parke Heritage on Tuesday, while the Crusaders come in on a two-game losing streak, most recently falling to Decatur Central on Saturday.

Austin Bowman and Avery Saunders are both averaging 10 points per game for the Mounties, while Jaidon Barnes leads Scecina with 12.1 points per game.
