BOYS TENNIS: Athenians, Mounties pick up wins

Athenians sweep Hot Dogs

The Crawfordsville boys’ tennis team swept Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort on Thursday.

Austin Motz won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Thatcher Gambrel won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and James Murphy won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 position.

The duo of Ziair Morgan and Zack Fichter won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while James Novak and Thomas Bowling won 3-6, 7-6(7-4), 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Mounties sweep Tigers

The Southmont boys’ tennis team ended the regular season with a 5-0 win over Lebanon. 

Adam Cox blanked John Gascho 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Luke Tesmer beat Matthew Keith 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and Luke Watson defeated Matthew Barber 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 3 slot.

At No. 1 doubles Mason Hall and Micah Korhorn beat Lukas Lepage and Cade Morton 6-7(5-7), 6-0, 6-1, while Chayce Howell and Harrison Haddock beat Reece Gayman 7-6(7-3), 6-4 in the No. 2 slot.

The Mounties have now won 11 in a row and finish the regular season 12-6, and 5-1 in the Sagamore Conference.

Chargers fall to Red Ramblers

The North Montgomery boys’ tennis team lost to Attica 4-1 on Monday. Brookes Walters and Will McKinnis won at No. 1 doubles.
