Brenda Jane (Kiger) LeJeune, 73, of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully at 11:27 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2020 at IU Health Transplant Hospital, Indianapolis. Brenda had a successful and long awaited kidney transplant on Saturday.

She was born Jan. 19, 1947, at Crawfordsville, daughter of the late Russell and Mary Jane (Rosen) Kiger. She married Ronald LeJeune on Oct. 7, 1993, at Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 2015.

Brenda was a 1965 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and was employed over 20 years with CSI of Crawfordsville as a warehouse clerk. Previously she happily served the public most notably with the U-Rent-It Center, Apple Grove and A&W restaurants. She was a devout member of the Waynetown Baptist Church and Byron Cox American Legion Post Auxiliary.

Brenda loved animals and was a very patient, compassionate, positive person whom was rarely seen without a smile and gave the best hugs. She would do anything for anyone, and most enjoyed giving back to the community at any opportunity and spent her time crocheting snowflake ornaments for the staff at Liberty Dialysis, blankets for the Women’s Resource Center and Animal Welfare League and lap blankets and shawls for the residents at Wellbrooke. She was also well known for her unique and delicious Christmas Sugar Cookies.

Surviving are: beloved son William Kunkel; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ron.

Visitation hours at 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with funeral services promptly following at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Team Mason with the National Kidney Foundation to aid in research and fighting kidney disease, 2193 Overcoat Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 or envelopes will be available at the funeral home. A celebration of life to honor Brenda is being scheduled and will be announced at a later time.
