Bruton notches 1K digs as CHS win Invite

The stellar volleyball career of Crawfordsville’s Macy Bruton had another milestone on Saturday as the Athenians competed at the Clinton Central Invite. Not only did CHS go 3-0 on the day to bring home the Invitational title, but Bruton recorded 18 digs over the course of the three matches which allowed her to hit the 1,000 dig mark for her career.

Crawfordsville began the day with a three set win over Heritage Christian 23-25, 27-25, 15-12 then defeated Logansport 25-10, 25-12 and ended the day with a victory over the host Bulldogs 25-12, 25-12.

In addition with her 18 digs, Bruton tallied 48 kills and six aces. Elyse Widmer notched 10 digs and three aces, Samantha Rohr five aces and 11 digs, Halle Elliot 37 digs, Jessica tribble tallied 61 assists and six aces, Hallie Gayler 14 kills and three blocks, Devan Johnson 14 kills and Brooklyn Mills ended the day with a pair of kills.

Bruton continues just dominate the state kills leader board as she now sits at 480 on the season while the next closes player is 101 kills behind. The next milestone in her career will come on Tuesday when Crawfordsville, who improves to 19-6 on the season, makes a short trip to take on SAC rival Western Boone. Bruton needs just four kills for to reach the illustrious 2,000 mark.

Crawfordsville will likely recognize both of Bruton’s achievements when they return back home on Thursday to welcome another Sagamore Conference opponent in Danville.
