Carolyn Sue (Newby) Woodard, 80, passed away to her heavenly home peacefully with her loving family by her side on Oct. 15, 2022, at Witham Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 28, 1941, at Ladoga, to Juanita Alberta (Sloan) Newby and Chester Lee Newby. She was the oldest of eight children and raised in the Crawfordsville area.

She was married to Kenneth E. Woodard in 1964 until the time of his death in 1984. Carolyn was a stay-at-home mom. Once her children were raised, she worked as a waitress and at the Lebanon High School cafeteria for many years.

She was a longtime resident of Thorntown. Carolyn was a member of the Sugar Plain Friends Church. She loved watching sports, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Johnna Lynne (Woodard) Clark; son Jeffrey Michael Woodard; step-son Dennis Woodard; grandchildren, Nickie (Joe) Alexander, Ryne Clark, Heather Clark, Scott (Angel) Woodard and Sherri (Leland) Allmeng; and siblings, John (Roxanne) Newby, Stephen Polk, Ruth Ann Craddock, Pamela (Billy) Melton and Cheryl (Pat) Halle.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by step-daughter Patricia Shunk; and brothers, Russell Eugene Polk and James Larry Newby.

Family and friends gathered Oct. 19 for visitation in Myers and Hunt Mortuary, Thorntown. Carolyn was laid to rest at the Maple Lawn Cemetery.
