Who, where and with what? These questions have confounded board game enthusiasts since Parker Brothers first released the board game Clue in 1956. Now, however, Crawfordsville High School students will attempt to solve the question with the performance of Clue today through Sunday.

Based on the 1985 film Clue, the play tells the story of six guests, Col. Mustard (Nivek Witt), Mrs. White (Cimbria Bowling), Mrs. Peacock (Elizabeth Bowling), Mr. Green (Sam Doty), Miss Scarlet (Carrie Pool) and Professor Plum (Brenden Warren), who attend a mysterious party hosted by Mr. Boddy (Emma Cornett), his butler Wadsworth (Thomas Bowling) and the maid Yvette (Mikaylin Figg). The guests all have their secrets, and when someone ends up dead, it’s up to the guests to discover whodunnit without being the next victim.

“I loved this movie as a kid,” said director Lisa Warren. “I always wanted there to be a stage version so I could be in it. I just thought it would be really fun.”

Cimbria Bowling, who plays Mrs. White, agrees with Warren.

“I like the teamwork in the show, we all worked extremely hard to get where we are today,” she said.

Bowling describes her character as “a black widow ... she’s in dark clothing and seems kind of suspicious.”

When Witt, who plays Col. Mustard, reflects on his character, he believes the audience will get a big kick out of him.

“I get the funny lines, so I get to hear people laugh,” Witt said.

Pool sees a big difference between her character and how she acts in real life.

“I think she is very much not like me,” she said. “I’m not at all dressy, and she’s very much like that.”

Pool believes that though the board game is fun, the play is better, as “it keeps all the same weapons and characters, but it adds a storyline to it.”

Warren, who plays Professor Plum, emphatically added, “People should come to see the show because if they don’t, they’re gonna miss out on a lot of fun.”

Doty, a senior who plays Mr. Green, said, “We have a pretty good group with pretty wholesome people. My favorite part of the play is the end, there’s a lot of energy there, and it’s just really enjoyable. My favorite part of playing Mr. Green is that he doesn’t turn to be how you expect him to be. You will laugh your face off.”

Clue runs today and Saturday at 7 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Connie L. Meek auditorium at Crawfordsville High School. Masks are required and seats will be distanced. Tickets must be purchased in advance at https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/42359. Cost is $6 for students and $8 for adults. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
