CDPL shares August staff picks

Posted

August is here and somehow it’s already time for back-to-school. Whether you are ready for the school year to start or you are still holding onto summer, your library has great reading recommendations for you.

If you want to read about the great outdoors, we recommend “Poetry and Prose on the Prairie: A Nature Journal of Prophetstown State Park” (808.4 Cra) or “Where the Deer and the Antelope Play” by Nick Offerman (973.93 Off), which is a must-read for fans of the show Parks & Rec.

If you are ready to jump into the fall season, check out the ghost stories from the Tradd Street series “The Attic on Queen Street” or “The Guests on South Battery” by Karen White (FIC Whi), recommended by one of our library staff.

Another staff member has been loving the fantasy book “An Echo of Things to Come” by James Islington. If you enjoy the popular Wheel of Time series, you might love this one, too. Start with the first book of the series: “The Shadow of What was Lost” (FIC Isl).

If you need some inspiration for lunches for school or the workday, we recommend “The Workweek Lunch Cookbook” (641.53 Kor.)

Find these and more at the Crawfordsville District Public Library.
