Crawfordsville District Public Library is seeking to expand its collection of school yearbooks.

The local history and genealogy department has put out the call for alumni to donate or allow staff to photocopy books from years that are missing from the collection. The library also accepts copies from years already in the stacks.

“We are most interested at this time [in] elementary schools and old high schools no longer in existence at this time in our county,” said Dellie Craig, CDPL local history specialist.

Schools on the list include Hose, Mills and Nicholson Elementary and New Richmond High School.

The Hose collection currently includes 1968-1976 and 1979-2004. The Mills and Nicholson collection comprises 1969-1986 and 1995-1998.

The collection of New Richmond yearbooks covers the years 1910-1911, 1915 and 1923.

Crawfordsville High School issues aren’t needed, except to fill gaps in the collection. The years missing are 1903, 1990-2004, 2006, 2014-2016 and 2018-present.

A full list of schools is posted with this story at journalreview.com. The collection is indexed in CDPL’s online yearbook database.

Schools outside Montgomery County are also represented, including Granville Wells, Perrysville, Roachdale, Romney, Russellville, Turkey Run and Veedersburg.

Patrons can bring yearbooks to the second floor of CDPL and ask for Craig, or call ahead at 765-362-2242, ext. 118.
