A 2006 fire engine highly utilized by the Crawfordsville Fire Department is set for total overhaul.
On Wednesday, the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety approved an agreement between CFD and Renewed Performance Company. The cost — two payments of $87,500 — will provide the department with a dependable fire engine while saving money for the taxpayers.
The renewal and refurbishment of the engine looks to extend its life by 12-15 years, Chief Scott Busenbark said.
In other business, the board:
• Approved a request from Price Excavating to close South Green Street at Franklin Street for one day beginning Thursday as crews work to tie in city water lines.
• Approved multiple work order requests for mowing from Code Enforcement Officer Barry Lewis, including properties at 1100 W. Market St., 1100 Tuttle Ave., 6 Eastgate Drive and 1108 W. Wabash Ave.
