The Chamber of Commerce had the difficult task of choosing a Rising Star from a pool of more than 350 members for its annual dinner and awards banquet held Sept. 3 at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

Hoosier Heartland State Bank’s Cody Hargis was chosen for the award for his role as an up-and-coming young professional in Montgomery County.

Hargis became retail sales manager for HHSB by age 31 and represents the ideal candidate for the award, presenter John Hetrick of Tanner & Servies Insurance said.

“We appreciated (Hargis’) openness to collaborate with the Chamber,” Hetrick said. “He has presented at our Retail Summit and partnered with us on financial education opportunities for our members. (Hargis) is also a dedicated board member and leader in the community through his work for Crawfordsville Main Street, having a direct impact on downtown Crawfordsville businesses.

Following its inaugural appearance as a Chamber award in 2020, the Rising Star accolade will become a staple of the Chamber’s annual ceremony. It will be given to a young professional under the age of 40 who embodies the Chamber’s mission of “advancing a vibrant business community,” both in the workplace and community as a whole.

“A Rising Star is an excellent role model who strives for continuous improvement for their organization, as well as their professional development,” Hetrick said. “Congratulations. We are glad to have you in our community as you grow in your career and family.
