DOVER — North Montgomery’s volleyball team saw their season come to an end Saturday. Host Western Boone defeated the Chargers in three straight sets.
Western Boone (22-5) used their frontline strength to win the sets 25-4, 25-12, 25-10.
Western Boone never let up during the match which ended in 55 minutes.
Earlier in the season North Montgomery (11-20) had played the Stars to a much closer match, but this time it was all Stars.
North Montgomery Coach Taylor Pierce said her team was ready, but did not have an answer for the powerful Stars, especially when her team fell behind.
“We knew it was going to be a battle,” Pierce said. “It is hard to mentally stay in the game with the way Western Boone never lets up.”
Regardless of the last game, Taylor said she saw growth in her team this season.
“I am proud of the team and it was good to see how they grew together,” Pierce said.
Charger seniors were Blair Nichols, Kaydence Young and Piper Ramey.
“I am really proud of the seniors,” Pierce said. “I started off with them four years ago so this is hard for me. I am proud of their leadership and how they helped the other players.”
Western Boone will travel to Saturday’s Elwood regional where they will face perennial powerhouse Muncie Burris (25-7) for a 4 p.m. match. The regional is a one match affair this season with the winner advancing to the semi-state.
