Sheridan — North Montgomery boys basketball team has been close all season. Tuesday night they finally finished the job and loaded the bus at Sheridan with a 47-31 victory.

The first quarter was a back and forth affair, with the home Blackhawks (2-8) leading 14-9. North Montgomery (1-8) caught fire from long range in the second as sophomore Jarrod Kirsch nailed three from downtown, and another from freshman Kelby Harwood, had the Chargers grabbing a one point lead heading into intermission 27-26.

The third period was a defensive struggle as the Chargers held the Blackhawks to only 4 points.

More defensive pressure followed in the fourth. Sheridan was only able to manage a single free throw, as the Chargers grew their first double digit lead of the season. Charger head coach heaped praise on his teams defense saying “ I thought we showed some toughness on defense the second half holding them to 5 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters combined. “

Jarrod Kirsch led all scorers as he finished with 18. Harwood finished with 12 and senior Jakob Kirsch chipped in 9.

Arnold was ecstatic for his team and said “ Every guy on our team gave us positive minutes when they got into the game. I am really happy for the guys. They deserved this win!”

The Chargers will now turn their attention to the Sugar Creek Classic on Friday night at Crawfordsville as they will play the host Athenians in the second game of the evening, following Western Boone against Southmont.
