Chargers optimistic heading into 2022

North Montgomery boys soccer has struggled the past two seasons winning just a single game. However the Chargers and coach Tristain Hall remain optimistic about the upcoming season which gets underway next week.

The Chargers will have another strong senior class with six seniors and that experience is what Hall is hoping leads to a breakthrough season.

“We have seniors that I had my first year of coaching as freshmen so they understand my expectations and the way I run things which in turn helps the younger guys on the team or the newer upperclassmen to follow suit,” Hall said. “That experience should be very beneficial for us.”

Some of those seniors include Malichi Stevens, Ben Eldridge, Shyam Patel, and Landon Patterson. Those seniors have set the tone so far in practice according to Hall. They know the results on the field have been few and far between the last couple of seasons and want to make sure they end their careers on a high note.

“We have a talented team this year and a lot of the guys were on last year’s team who do not want the same result and have high expectations,” Hall added. “I think right now our main focus is to set our expectations and meet them as well as bring the freshmen and first year players up to speed and create more chemistry amongst our guys.”

The overall goal for the Chargers remains to simply improve throughout the course of the season so they’re playing their best come the post-season. Hall has added an extra goal that he wants his Chargers squad to accomplish as well.

“We have a new goal of staying competitive in every game,” he said. “Last year we had a condensed season with COVID-19 but this year we won’t have the same excuse. To reach the goals that we have set it takes a strong commitment from myself, the guys on the team, and our parents to show up to practice and work hard everyday so far we have stepped up to the challenge and we will continue to do so.”

North Montgomery begins its 2022 campaign on Monday when they travel to take on Covington.
