Charles “Charlie” W. Crum, 73, of Lafayette and formerly of Bloomingdale, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at Indiana University Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born Sept. 17, 1948, at Tangier, to Willis and Jean Vestal Crum. 

Charlie was a 1966 graduate of Turkey Run High School. He was an 101st airborne Vietnam Veteran, earning a bronze star and worked as a machine operator and welder pipe fitter at Olin/Flexel for 32 years. Charlie lived life to the fullest: reading books, tinkering in his barn and keeping up with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky; two children, Chad (Amanda) Crum and Angie (Kenny) Ryan. He was a proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and is further survived by siblings, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents.

Charlie will be remembered by all as a selfless, witty and loving companion. 

A private, military service will be held at his final resting place in Bloomingdale. Care has been entrusted to Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville.
