Charles Eugene Wethington, 83, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Majestic Care of Avon.

Born to William Paul and Wilma Aldean (Ottinger) Wethington in Elizaville, Indiana. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1956. He was a long time truck driver and was better known as “Charlie Tuna” on the radio.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; his previous wife Phyllis; step-son Duane Ward; and two grandsons, Gordon Day and Coy Zeller.

He is survived by his children, Darla Leann (Jim) Day, William Eugene (Laura) Wethington, Stephanie Jo (James) Blackburn and Traci Michelle (Tony) Zeller; step-children, Connie Townsend, Bonnie Page, Christine Tober, Karen Hewitt, Amanda Shinell and Natalie Hulbert; grandchildren, Carla, Jacob, Rachel, Penny, Charlotte, Carl, Matthew, Megan, Ben, Brian, James and Ty; great-grandchildren, Aryanna, Rilee, Brooklynn, Keith, Logan, Zarina, Robbie, Anthony, Liam, Byron, Daniel, Jesse and Jazlynn; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After a life of “pounding out miles in a truck” he enjoyed the peace and quiet on his ridge in Kentucky, where he liked riding his motorcycle, attending car shows, reading western novels and watching old movies when he wasn’t down at the local coffee shop catching up on the “local news.” He was a member of the Greencastle, Indiana Moose Lodge, Cane Valley Christian Church and the Knifley, Kentucky Volunteer Fire Department.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 12 in Bethany Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 12 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland. Machledt & Servies Funeral Home has been entrusted with Charles’s funeral arrangements.
