Charles Lawrence DeVore, 92, of Crawfordsville passed away at home Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019.
He was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Moultrie County, Illinois, to the late Millard Keith and Esther Pearl (Merris) DeVore.
Charles graduated from Lovinton High School in Illinois and attended Purdue University. On Nov. 16, 1947, he married Lois Elaine Cummins. She preceded him in death June 23, 2000.
Throughout the years he was a farmer and worked as a substitute letter carrier for the postal service. He was on the State Fair Board, was a board member on the Montgomery County CO-OP, was a member of the Masonic Lodge #50, was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, member of the First United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville and he was an avid 4-H supporter and loved to fish.
He is survived by three sons, Ted (Brenda) DeVore of Crawfordsville, Howard (Laini) DeVore of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Michael (Diana) DeVore of Crawfordsville; daughter Dee Ann Cabell Rowley of Crawfordsville; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; three sisters, Marge Haws, Ilene Culclasure and Veda Huffman; and brother Dean DeVore.
There will be a private family service with a memorial service planned at a later date. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care entrusted with care.
