Charles Lee “Butch” Sanders Sr., 75, of Hillsboro passed away at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at his home in Hillsboro, with family by his side. He had been in failing health.
Butch, as he was known to family and friends, was born Jan. 15, 1950, at home in Yeddo. He was the son of the late Elmer “Red” Sanders and Betty (Corey) Nelson. Butch was raised in the Yeddo and Kingman area and has resided in Hillsboro most of his adult life.
Butch was an over-the-road truck driver with several different trucking companies through the years.
He was very fond of his fur baby, a miniature Yorkie called Zoey.
On July 11, 1969, Butch married Mary Uplinger in Covington.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary of 55 years; along with son Charles L. Sanders Jr., Hillsboro; four daughters, Lisa (Ron) Lynch, West Lebanon, Sharon (Frederick) Colbert, Crawfordsville, and Debbie Cope and Kathy (Roger) Dickison, both of Veedersburg; two sisters, Emma Plunkett and Helen (George) Plunkett, both of Kingman; brother Joe (Brenda) Sanders, Kingman; 12 grandchildren, Levi Lynch, Stacy Lynch, Seth Lynch, Ashley Colbert, Kinser Cope, Emily Cope, Skylar Sanders, Meredith Sanders, Lane Sanders, Bryce Alenduff, Cody Bayless and Conner Bayless; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer “Buck” Sanders, James Sanders and William Sanders and a sister, Shirley Robinson.
Friends may call at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5 p.m. until the memorial service time at 7 p.m. with Pastor David Sims officiating.
