Charles Robert ‘Bob’ Campbell, 78, of Crawfordsville died at 5:12 a.m. Dec. 3, 2024. He was a long-time resident of Crawfordsville.

Bob was born in Crawfordsville as the son of Robert Harold Campbell and Ruth Lavon (Thomas) Campbell. He was a member of the class of 1965 at Crawfordsville High School. Bob followed in his father’s footsteps as he worked in the trucking industry as a truck driver (despite his color-blindness) in his early years delivering milk for Meadow Gold. He worked for Ryder Truck Lines in Danville, Illinois. He took over the family business of Campbell Truck Service and delivered freight locally, then worked at McLean Trucking.

In 1982, he moved to Texas and worked as a terminal manager for Roadway and Yellow Freight.

Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge, where he served as chaplin and was involved as a coach in his children’s youth sports at Mt. Zion.

After he retired, he spent time traveling to historical places like Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore and Grand Canyon. He played the role of a Marshall for a live western skit in Tombstone, Arizona.  Bob enjoyed his family, reading westerns, NASCAR, playing poker, diet coke and watching sports on TV.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Edward Campbell.

He is survived by daughter Angela (Greg) Campbell Buck of Austin, Texas; son Chad (Laura) Campbell of Brentwood, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Rachel Campbell, Collier Campbell, Caroline Campbell, Megan Buck and Joe Buck; sister Beverly (Jack) Wyatt; half-sister Cathy (Scott Beyer) Waldon; and half-brother Jim Campbell.

Bob will be cremated.

Messages of condolence may be sent to the Angela (Greg) Buck Family at 14420 American Kestrel Drive, Austin, TX 78738 and to the Chad (Laura) Campbell Family, 1738 Ravello Way, Brentwood TN 37027.
