Chester E. ‘JR’ Lowery, 72, passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020, in Ben Hur Health and Rehab.
He was born Dec. 21, 1947, at Marion, Indiana, to the late Chester Sr. and Ruth Armstrong Lowery.
‘JR’ had attended high school in Florida and had resided in Montgomery County most of his adult life. He was an electrician by trade and had been employed by Brand Electric, prior to his declining health. He was the kind of man who would drop what he was doing to help someone else out. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attended races with friends. ‘JR’ was an active member of the Moose Lodge, Son of the American Legion and the Elks. He was a great friend and willing worker for all the organizations which he belonged. He was a great friend to many and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are daughter Alita Lowery (Matthew) Stout of Indiana; two sisters, Eva Mae Lowery (Lee) Tenney and Clara Lowery (Tom) Conner, both of Florida; step-children, Jim (DeVon) Davis and Christie Davis; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Becky Lowery; and two brothers; Charles Joseph Lowery and Wesley Byron Lowery.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later time. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting with the arrangements.
