Chester Wayne Sayler, 82, of Rockville passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He peacefully passed surrounded by loved ones.
He was a retired proofreader for RR Donnelly and Sons in Crawfordsville with many years of service. He also owned and managed apartments and farmed.
He was born June 9, 1942, in Crawfordsville, to the late Glen Sayler and Helen Kent Sayler.
Survivors include: two daughters, Christiana (Tim) Klink of Pittsboro and Dawnde Anna Sayler Bayless of Rockville; and five grandchildren, Jesse Bayless, Haley Cook, Wyatt Cook, Noah (Alondra) Klink and Alexis Klink.
He attended Greene Township school and graduated from Turkey Run High School and served with the Army reserves. He was an active member of the Portland Mills Christian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and treasurer for many years. He was always community minded and never met a stranger. He enjoyed reading, movies, traveling and belonged to an ATV club. He was loyal and active with the Greene Township Alumni Association.
Chester lived life to the fullest, he would talk to every person he ever met, even total strangers and it wouldn’t be short conversations. He lived for and followed Jesus his entire life and brought so many to Him by his weekly Facebook post from Portland Mills. Chester made a beautiful life for his two daughters, he will always be their hero. He took them on trips and made beautiful memories their entire lives together, so many fun adventures together, so much love and laughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Portland Mills Christian Church, 11525 Harbison Road, Rockville, with Sam Link officiating. Burial will follow at Portland Mills Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 pm Saturday at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville.
