Ms. Chiral M. Carpenter-Waterman of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Waynetown, following an extended illness.

Chiral was born Oct. 13, 1950, at Fresno, California, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Edwards) Carpenter and was raised and graduated high school there.

She joined the Army in February 1978 and received and honorable discharge 10 months later. Chiral lived most of her life in California before moving to Indiana in 2012, where she was actively involved in the operations of Coal Creek Cellars Winery near Crawfordsville with her long time companion Ron Wojtaszek.

She was formerly a member of the Crawfordsville Moose Lodge and volunteered for many charities including “Wine for Water.” She was known for her beautiful gift baskets she donated to many charity auctions.

Chiral is survived by daughter Liz Cass of Waynetown; loving long-time companion Ron Wojtaszek of Crawfordsville; brothers, Paul Carpenter, Omaha, Nebraska, and Mike Hudson, Fresno, California; sisters, Beverly Hudson, Kirbyville, Texas, and Patty Carpenter, Phoenix, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held for Chiral from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Coal Creek Cellars, 3573 W. US 136, Crawfordsville, followed by a Graveside Funeral Service at Wayntown Masonic Cemetery.
