Christmas Dinner plans in full swing

Posted

Christmas season is upon us, and plans for the 2021 Montgomery County Community Christmas Dinner are in full swing. Preparations are now being made for a festive dine-in experience at First Baptist Family Life Center, 1905 Lebanon Road, Crawfordsville. Doors will open at noon and serving will start at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 25.

A traditional meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, noodles, rolls and variety of desserts is on the menu. Santa also is expected to visit.

Organizers said those who are unable to dine in, can arrange for delivery. Home delivery orders must be made before 10 p.m. Dec. 24. No calls will be taken on Christmas Day. Meal pick up also is available at the location. However, organizers prefer meals be picked up after 1 p.m. so they can serve those people who are dining in this year. For home delivery reservations, call Linda at 765-362-5650 or Joyce at 765-366-2341. If unanswered, leave a message and someone will return the call.

The donation needs are great this year as organizers expect to serve 1,200 meals. To donate desserts (store bought or homemade), drop them off at the Family Life Center on Dec. 24 all day or the morning of Dec. 25. For pick up call, 765-366-2341.

Monetary donations for the meal can be given to a driver or mailed to MCCCD, 1008 E. Market St., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.

Many volunteers are needed to cook, assemble deliveries, serve dine in and deliver.

“This is your way to serve your community and trust me when I say it is a very heart warming experience for all and a lot of fun,” said Joyce Fitzwater, organizer. “I encourage the families that have young children and could not come serve last year because of COVID restrictions, we hope to see children again. They can help with drinks, rolls, carry trays, Santa gifts and more.”

To volunteer, call Fitzwater at 765-366-2341.
